From the Ground Up
Making Green Building a Mainstream Practice
On Thursday, February 1st, 2007 The Next American City partnered with Bank of America and The Rockefeller Foundation to spark a lively conversation about the country's environmental future. Over 200 business, community and environmental leaders gathered at the American Museum of Natural History in New York to join Tom Brokaw, the event moderator and longtime NBC News anchor, in asking a panel of green building experts: How do you make green building a mainstream practice?
The event kicked off with a special appearance by New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. Judith Rodin, President of The Rockefeller Foundation, and Kenneth Lewis, CEO of Bank of America, gave opening remarks before turning the evening over to Brokaw and the symposium panelists.
In opening the discussion, Brokaw decreed, “In all my years as a journalist, I don't think I have seen such a dramatic sea change in public attitudes and awareness as we have witnessed in the last two years. Green, of course, is the password for a lot of people now…”
